Hello everyone, new to group and wanting to get into leather crafting!. I recently picked up this singer 111g156 months ago, and when I bought it, I did not test to see if it would stitch..seller told me he had tested it but never sewn any projects with it. I was just happy to find this model of machine in my area and made the purchase to get into this hobby . So fast forward to where I am with it . I Got her threaded for the first time and found the clutch was engaged , I am missing the spring and catch arm so I put it back in place on the shaft with a screwdriver . Went to make a stitch and found out the timing belt was off by one tooth . I got that sorted out and it was now stitching but I still need to time it properly. So next I tried the stitch length adjuster and found the eccentric was not moving .. read some Information and I backed out the set screws and backed off the jib screws ... got that sorted and the eccentric is now able to adjust stitch length.. now here is my problem. The number on the stitch length indicator in the window does not match where the eccentric is located for stich length. When set for least amount of stitches per inch it is between numbers 18-20 in the window and when I adjust for maximum amount of stitches per inch I am back at 14-16 in the window . Looking for help to correct this. There is so many things I have learnt from this site already , looking forward to getting this thing running good and starting on some projects . Before purchasing this machine I new nothing about sewing machines . - thx !
