Hi All, new member here, the proud owner of a Seiko LCW 8BL cylinder arm sewing machine I bought from a factory sale.
I found that the needle in the Seiko when I bought it was shorter than the standard 135x17 needle it should be fitted with, not sure why.
I have fitted a standard needle and want to move the timing to suit the standard needle, but the timing Gear won't rotate on its shaft when I loosen the three grub screws that hold it on. I have tried gentle heat, gentle taps with a piece of wood and leaving WD40 in the grub screws holes for about a week but it is still stuck.
Just wondering if anyone could advise a method of getting the gear to rotate on the shaft so I can complete the retiming.
In the meantime I have managed to get the machine to sew ok by moving the needle bar up slightly more than specified (approx 2mm) to accommodate the longer standard needle with the existing timing, but would like to get everything absolutely set according to specifications if I can.
Thoughts welcome.
