Hello, I'm trying to research a good machine for medium weight garment sewing, such as jackets and pants. Veg tan and other thick leathers are not my priority, but might be nice to do occasionally. My current domestic machine can only handle up to 2oz but struggles and skips if that's doubled up.
I'm hoping to invest in a walking foot that can do at least the 4-5oz range with bulky seams but I'm unsure if these industrials are too powerful for my uses?
I'm considering the Sailrite Leatherwork due to its small size, slow motor control, and customer support. Is this like using a chainsaw to cut a sandwich, or are these machines appropriate for garment work as well?
Thank you very much
