Posted this on Reddit and got some positive feedback. Figured I'd post it here as my first post. I'm new to leatherwork and beginning to really enjoy it. I was determined to make my own stitching pony, but wanted something fully adjustable that wasn't $200. I had an old adjustable monitor stand just kicking around the shop and figured I could see if that would work. It does, and great! At least in my limited experience. The monitor stand has tension adjustment points so I have it pretty well dialed in to stay where I need it when moved around. I used a $4 harbor freight handscrew clamp for the clamping mechanism. Also added a small magnet to each side to hold my needles. Probably gonna add one more to each side.
Anyway. Just wanted to post here in case anyone else wanted to use the idea. Happy stitching!
