How did you find leatherworker.net?
link from another board

I could have sworn I made this post in the holster section. My area of interest is holsters, later on maybe belts for them. I don't plan on stamping or carving them, just bone them to the gun and dye. There are no knives or sharpening accesories listed because I already have them. I sometimes forget that people can't read my mind, but it's probably a good thing that a lot of them can't. smile.I also have several old antlers for boning. I have Barge Contact Cement on the list for glue. As for shoping around, I do intend too before ordering. Just figured that making a wish list to post on here would be the easiest way to show what I'm thinking I may need. I already have Stohlmans books on Holsters and Hand sewing. Sponges, spray bottles, tapes, working surface, hammers, steel ruler I didn't list because I thought they were common enough household items. Will buy poster board for making patterens locally. TwinOaks, thanks for the idea about making the flat spot on the awl and the compass. Thanks, Dave.

Except for dyes and finnish, I think this should give me a pretty good start. http://www.eleatherworks.com/cart.php?mode...24200e7f0a9c89f What would you change, add or delete? The only thing I've ever made with leather was a belt from a kit. That was 30 years ago in junior high, so I'm a total newb. Till I'm sure that this is going to be something I truly enjoy, I don't want to get in the hole to far on tools. All suggestions welcomed. Thanks, Dave.

TwinOaks, it may have been you, but I honestly don't remember now. It was in the thread about making holsters. As for the problem, the general concensus is that it was a light load of H110, not any specific powder problem. H110 & W296 were/are meant for full power loads. A light charge will cause the problem encountered. Dave. -

That's where I learned about this forum. Dave. -
I am new here but feel this is important. I'm sorry if I'm breaking board rules, but since this section deal with firearms it may save someone some heartaches. Here is a link to another forum I visit. I hope I'm just overreacting. http://forums.wvcdl.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=734 Beware or let those handloaders close to you beware. Dave.

Hello all. I've been lurking here for a week or two and decided that I need to sign up so that I can download pictures of some of the work. I'm a true noob to leather work. The only thing I've ever done with leather was to make a belt in 9th grade shop class about...... Well, lets just say it's been a while. My main interest in leather will be for cocealment holsters and belts for myself and maybe a few friends. I have already learned much from this site and am sure that I'll have plenty of questions later on. For now I will mainly keep lurking. I have ordered copys of Al Stohlmans "How To Make Holsters" and "The Art Of Handsewing Leather". Are there any other books that you would reccomend? Keep in mind that I'm not trying to be in the league of Sparks, Allesio (sp?) or Boomstick. I just want to make a few good usable holsters that are rugged, comfortable to wear and fit the firearm well. Looks are secondary but I don't want them to be butt ugly. Thanks, Dave.
