  1. I just remembered when I was fiddling with the gears the sound stopped but when I when to retime it the sound started again so I think I found the original position of the gears which was out of time. Hopefully the sound go's away eventually.
  2. Thats a good idea. I'll do that tomorrow and let you guys know If that is the case.
  3. Thanks for the advice AIZilla, the second clacking sound is the gears changing and the case opener (I should have removed it for clarity) and moving a tooth is exactly what I had to do when timing it so maybe the sound is just the gears breaking in or something of the like. Nevertheless Friquants advice about putting the throat pate on when running the machine and marking the gears is still helpful for a novice like myself.
  4. Thanks for letting me know about that I'll make sure to keep the plate on next time. I've tried separating the gears and turning both of them and they don't make the noise on their own so I'm pretty sure its the two gears. and the gears have changed from factory placement so that might be the source of the noise but I'm not sure how to change that.
  5. Thanks, here is a video of me hand turning the wheel and the sound that it makes https://youtube.com/shorts/xqZXBxgeJSg the video should be uploaded by 1pm today
  6. Yeah the grinding sound still happens by hand. I tried separating the gears and every time I tighten the screws the sound still persists. would you be able to send the the video where Uwe says that or is it in the hook timing video?
  7. Thanks Friquant, I'm pretty sure the machine sews ok but the sound raises some concern as it only started after I re timed the hook. Also removing the timing belt is a good tip I wish I thought of when trying to find where the sound was coming from. I think it might be coming from the large timing gear and the small gear on the hook saddle although nothing I do seems to fix the sound (I've tried re timing and moving the big gear to mesh with the smaller one differently a few times to see if that fixes anything but the sound still persists) but I will try messing with the feed dog eccentric as well. I only just got this machine a couple months ago and am pretty new to sewing in general so both you and wizcrafts advice has been really helpful.
  8. Thank you for the advice Wizcrafts. The sounds still persist even with the case opener off so I might try fiddling with the gears more.
  9. hello recently I re-timed my Juki LU- 563 hook, after which the bobbin area began to make a grinding sound. Does anyone know what it might be? Here is a video of the sound: IMG_1297.MOV any help/advice would be appreciated.
