How thick of leather will it sew? Belts, wallets, liners and such? Less than 1/2" thick?Hi Kings X,
As far as belts go, like esantoro, told me it will do belts, but you probably have to go with the monster wheel from sailrite, they are like 125 and they have a deluxe carrying case for like 99. The monster wheel will help you better when sewing belts. Now with wallets and liners since they will be thinner leathers you should do fine. It wont do tack or anything like that, but for lighter work such as wallets and stuff, you should be cool. I hope it is a safe bet as long as you stay with veg tan leather up to about say like 6 or 7 oz it will do that, anything bigger I would go with the monster wheel II. Thanks I hoped I helped somewhat.

Hi All,
I have for sale a slightly used Rex RX 607 walking foot machine. It includes accessories shown. I misplaced the spool pin when I purchased it, everything else is there. It works fine, but I will probably go to hand stitching cuz I will be doing holsters, sheaths, and maybe some tack. I am asking for $ 275.00, if interested just send me a PM. Thanks

Hi All,
I have a slightly used Pfingst Flex Shaft CHP Magnum made in the USA, it has a 1/8 horsepower motor. Also I have included as an upgrade to the machine it has a brand new Lucas # 9 low boy foot control and a # 30 hand piece. Also, not pictured for sale is a brand new hoke jewelers torch with flash back arrestors with five tips, I have a brand new Lucas long arm attachment for a lucas senior casting machine, right now I have the casting unit with the short arm attachment. These items are not pictured, if interested, I will email them to you. Just not going to do jewelry anymore. I am selling the flex shaft for 180 or best offer. You can contact me wolff_60@yahoo.com Thanks

I believe that machine is the same as my Yamata, which I found next to useless without the monster wheel. For belts and chaps you will need the MW. I doubt the needle will penetrate 6 oz of leather without the MW. Other than that it's a nice little machine.I don't think you made a bad decision. i just wanted to stress the need for the MW.
My yamata was $300. The wonderful case and MW from sailrite were an additional $230. At $530 you're getting close to a Neel's Model 5 (maybe $600 used), which is a nice machine, though it has lower feed only.
With the MW, however, you'll be able to do belts and chaps very nicely. Without the MW, wallets should be doable.
How much was a Rex. First time I had heard of this company.
Hi ed,
It was 289 with free shipping, I had to pay sales tax tho cuz I am in Louisiana
The Rex comes with foot control, screwdriver, oil, commercial thread stand and extra bobbins, and 100 organ needles. I have no idea what those are, not too bad I guess.
Eventually, you will need two or three machines anyway, so it's good you have this little portable, as it can be quite handy.

I don't think you will like that machine without the monster wheel from sailrite.ed
Hi ed,
Thx for the the reply, so I made a bad deal then? Ill be able to afford the monster wheel later on. Will it suffice for awhile? Is the Monster Wheel the same as the Monster II Wheel?

Hi,
I just ordered a new machine, no it isn't a high dollar one, I think as long as I use it for what it was designed to do I will be OK. I purchased a brand new Rex RX 607 portable walking foot. I will be practicing with it in a few days, I will be sewing chaps, belts, and wallets, and no harness leather LOL. I have a question though, which of those projects would be better for a beginner to cut my teeth on? Thanks

Hi,
I was seriously thinking of getting a semi industrial sewing machine. Will the Tuff Sew be what I need I don't wanna make a bad mistake. If so should I get the 7" gate or 9".
Thanks again

Hi All,
I am new here. My question this, should I keep this machine for leather work or should I consider one of the chinese clones, like tuffsew. I just can't afford to save up for a juki or something similar. Would a tuffsew or any other work for now? I will be doing wallets, belts, and chaps.Would a tuffsew work for now, I will get a better when I am rolling in dough LOL!!! If I am lucky maybe the sewing machine guru might chime in. Oh the machine I have is the singer 500a.
