  1. Hello All, I'm a long time lurker, this is my first post. I've learned a LOT from leatherworker.net, culminating in my first leather creation, a custom bass strap that I made for myself. I'm currently in a Metal band and play a BC Rich Black Widow 5-string that is very neck heavy. I personally like the bass to be in a more vertical position while playing and a traditional bass strap was not getting the job done, the bass would neck dive tremendously. So I was using a slider guitar strap system that was almost what I wanted. It would hold the bass more vertical, but it would eventually neck dive and I'd find myself re-adjusting mid-song, I just don't like playing and having to hold up the bass neck at the same time. So, lo and behold, I have attached pics of my new strap. It is very comfortable and I can completely let go of the bass and it stays put right were I leave it. I must admit it's a little heavy with all that chain, but I was going for something a little more bad-a$ for the Metal band. Even though it's heavier than any strap I've ever used, it's also the most comfortable strap I've ever used. I plan on making a "light" version that I can wear when I play with more "normal" people (no chains or spikes). Take a look and let me know what you think (don't mind my ugly mug in the pic, it's the most Metal face I could come up with at the time). Here are pics of the front, back, and two close-ups: http://s902.photobucket.com/albums/ac229/doublegstrap/Butchers%20Harness%20Bass%20Strap/ Thanks to all who for making leatherworker.net one of the best 'net communities out there! Later, George
