  1. I've begun uploading a few pictures of some of my whips and I hope to be involved more frequently in the 'how to' forums. I've been braiding for a few years now and in 2009 won the Blue Ribbon at the Kentucky State fair in the leather braiding category. While I do all kinds of various and custom braiding, my primary interest is in making whips. Ideally, I look to improve with every piece I make and I hope to not only improve my techniques but also refine my construction methods so that my whips continue to improve.

    Whips

As a braider, my main interest is in making custom whips. This gallery shows some of my work.
  3. From the album: Whips

This is another 48" whip in a different style. It is 48" from knot to tip and braided in the same pattern as the previously loaded image. It is a shot loaded whip as well. The bolster on this piece is actually the lash, which runs the length of the whip for stability. The lash itself if buffalo hide while the rest of the whip is cow hide. This too is a 12 plait overlay with an 8 plait belly.

  4. From the album: Whips

This whip is a 48 inch signal whip. It is built on a shot bag with a bolster, an 8 plait braided belly and a two tone, 12 plait overlay. Four strands are dropped in the overlay, ending in 8 plaits with the nylon cracker braided into the whip.
