Just found your post on google. Hoping you can help me. I have the same problem on my 296a, But the needle cover looks to be straight. I have the original "Operating instructions and parts list" book for the machine. Is there another one that has more information? If you have the same book that I do, I'm assuming that the needle cover is part 233 Table 2 pg 9 of the book. What is the correct placement of that cover?
