  1. Ok, I just finished work on a saddle, thanks for your help in an earlier question. My question now is what to charge?

I replaced two stirrup straps 21/2 inch wide, made two new fenders, replaces all hardware, cleaned and reconditioned the saddle and touched up some worn stitching. I was thinking of charging $450.00-$500.00. Is this in the ball park, I want to be fair but do not want to be ripped off. I do not know af any saddle or tach shops in my area, and have been getting some inquires into saddle repair, this was my fist one, As soon as I can I will post some pics. Any help appreciated.

  2. Ok, first off I know nothing about saddles. I do small leather craft items and some holsters. I have been contacted by a person to replace the fenders on his wifes saddle. The patterns she wants on them is straight forward. However I do have a few questions:

1-Are there any rules for the construction of the fenders?

2-Do they need to be lined or covered?

    3-What weight leather to use?

4-What is the best finish to use?

any other advice you experts want to share will be greatly appreciated.

  3. I have been contacted by a fire department to make some miniture leather fire helments to give out as awards. Does anyone have any patterns or suggestions on how to make a minuture fire helmet. This is the first of what I am sure will be many questions from me. Thanks in advance for your help.

  4. I am Robert from Chesterfield, Virginia, just south of Richmond, Virginia. I was first introduced into leather craft at the age of 11 while in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound. I have dabbled in leather every since, mostly craft stuff (pocket books, wallets. belts etc). I have made come custom items for local fire/ems and police departments. I have made custom holsters and rifle slings for the local police department. I like to carve, but do not think my carving is too great. I look forward to learning from all the knowledge that is part of this site. So hello, from Virginia.
