About 6 months ago I got fed up not being able to find any holsters I like for many of my pistols. Part of that is due to the fact I'm left handed and the other problem is I own several guns that aren't real common so holsters can be tough to find. The other factor that came into play is that I love anything with western styling and that really narrowed my options. After getting completely frustrated I broke down and dug out my old leather working tools that had been stored away almost 30 years and set out to make my own. Any suggestions, ideas or comments would be extremely welcome since I'm really new to this. I gained a lot of inspiration just looking through this site.
A few things to keep in mind:
1) The holsters had to have a wild west flair (even though I typically only carry for CCW that don't mean they can't look good!)
2) Single action holsters had to have a safety strap.
3) The holsters had to be lined (I worry about the finish on my guns).
4) The holsters had to be easy to get on and off without having to take my pants off since I'm a southpaw (hence the snap systems).
5) They had to be functional and comfortable.
Here's the first one I made for a small .380:
Next I eased off a little a made a minimal holster for a Beretta for use at the range:
Then I got a little more energetic and started on my primary weapons. First was for a Bersa .45:
Just last night I finished my latest which is for a 1911A1:
Thanks -
