still a little tacky no matter how thin I make the resolene layer. I just sprayed a light coat of Pledge on top, and that seemed to cover the tackiness and make it slippery

Does the tackiness go away? I brushed a thin coat of resolene, and I blow dried with high heat. It's dry to touch, but has a bit of tackiness.

i used a plastic bag over my hands, and applied lexol conditioner on some pro oil dyed leather, which dried for 48 hours. The lexol does lift some dye out. I saw some black on the plastic bag. i guess all oils will cause dye to bleed somewhat ?? as long as water does not make it bleed, I'm ok with it. the dye was applied to my mom's purse, so it absolutely must not bleed if there is rain. don't want the black rubbing off on her clothes. my order of resolene should be arriving any day now.

i want to double check before i potentially botch the whole leather bag. I'm almost done dyeing the bag with black pro oil dye, which seems to have absorbed nicely. Some places are a little dry, so i was planning to use lexol later. will lexol wash out the pro oil dye? or is it safe to use? i read in some messages that lexol makes dye bleed out.

I asked Feibing directly, and didn't get a straight answer. is bag kote and tan kote a semi-permanent finish, in the sense that it does not rub off easily ? is it analogous to a clear coat spray paint finish ?

i was planning to use bag kote because I heard that fiebing black dyes rub off easily. and since this is a purse, it will be rubbing against the body a lot. thanks for the tips

I will be dyeing a purse black for a family member. Never done such a project before. I cleaned a small part of the leather with rubbing alcohol, and noticed that it felt dry afterward. my concern is getting that moisture and pliability back into the leather after dyeing. If i use black pro oil dye and top it off with bag kote, will conditioner be able to penetrate to the leather ? do i condition leather before or after dyeing ? final question- do i need to moisten the leather with water before using fiebing pro oil dye?

yeah, i've read all the tutorials all over the web. I was just curious because I've seen pictures of tea colored roon, but most of the other pics were of deep black liquid.

how long does it take the vinegar to turn black? i read on here that you can use the vinegaroon after brewing 1 week. Is it black by then? I just started my first batch ever yesterday... 1 quart vinegar and an s.o.s pad. I see tiny bubbles along the steel wool fibers, but no violent fizzing reaction or anything.
