  1. Got a lot of responses. Sorry to say they sold the same day as the post. And it has been me and my wifes 19 year anniversary. So just got the time to reply. Don't know how to close the thread but once again all blue guns are gone. Thank you

  3. Well I think you are doing good nas. What size leather was that. The edges looked good but seemed fairly think is that 7-9 oz? I personally don't like working with leather that thick. I do for some reason but prefer 4-5oz. Hope I'm not alone on this.
  4. This making holsters thing isn't as easy as you would think. I overlook things on my first design all the time. Drives me crazy. I have a box of oops holsters. Or I call it the what was I thinking box. lol I like the color and tooling. I thought it would be for stability but couldn't see it actually doing much except poking you. But I see were you are coming from.
  5. Looks good. I do not own a 1911 so I will ask. The wing at the bottom of the barrel towards the rear. Why is that there? Seems like there is no purpose for it. Thanks.
  6. Yea nas you got a point. The cant that I put on it is the minimum that would allow me to grab the handle without the leather interfering. It is at 20 degrees. If you notice the rear belt loop follows the handle up so I could get the belt loop higher. However not owning a G26 it will be hard to know if it is a good holster or not. Only time will tell I guess. I give away holsters sometimes in situations like this on another forum. But the winner has to give me feedback on it. So maybe its time for to give one away.
  7. Wow! Sorry didn't realize it was that big.. I just opened it and it is big lol. Sorry dial up guys if there are any out there still. I will have to adjust the size next time.
  8. Well, this is my third attempt at this gun. What a pain in the .... First one not enough room for my fingers between handle and leather. Didn't think about that. This one I think is pretty good. Even though I don't own a G26 I would think this would be comfortable. So what do you guys think.
  9. Searched but didn't see the answer I was looking for. Never used oil based dye. Tryed water based didn't like them. I now use alchohol based. With good results. There are some oil based colors I would like to try. To seal holster I use super sheen which works well. With oil you have to use resolene. Or so I have read. Is there a benefit to oil based dyes and what do you do differently to use oil. Thank you Luvthegun
  10. Here is a pic off the holster. Its not finished. Need ro buff, cut belt loops, and seal it. Just don't know what will happen to the stingray. Thanks
  11. Thanks for all the responses. I think I will give it a try. But first I am going to try a stingray inlay. Working with leather is like crack to me. Had my first taste in Feb of this year and I have not been able to stop. And I don't want to stop.
  12. Thanks for the info. So horse is much harder to work with. Is it worth the effort? I wouldn't mind being able to say I worked with horse. But need there to be a good reason to try. I find cowhide easy and fun to work with. So is this something people look for in a holster? Horse hide? Does it hold up much better than cowhide? Thanks again
  13. Thanks. The PF9 I really like. When talking to people some said they like clips others said the holster would pull out with the gun. So was thinking if the gun was on a cant then the draw angle would be ina way tio cause a pinch effect on the belt when drawing. So far it has worked. The Bersa. Even though the gun is empty (no mag and I unload all firearms while working on them) I forgot to decock. That being said it is not possible for the holster to pull trigger all the way back to fire. Especially in DA. Holster was designed to be carried decocked and safety on. The belt loops were cut with a 1/4 inch round punch and then finished with wood chisel. Then burnished with sanded down dowl in hand drill. The angle I am working on. I will post a pic of one I finished today. That are straight. As far as horse vs cow. Seen some 36 X 14ish horse for 12 bucks. Didn't say how thick. But seemed like a good buy. I crank out about 4 to 5 holsters a week. Sell them on ebay for a couple of bucks. Just enough to buy more material. I learn more by doing. Remember before Feb - never touched leather. I think I'm doing well. I love working with leather. It is one thing I can focus on. Brings me peace. Thanks
  14. Greatings to everyone. I have been crawling around here reading just about everything. I have been making holsters for about 3 months. Out of cowhide. Seen an ad here for horse butts. And started thinking. Is horse better than cow. Is it harder to work with? Does it accept dye the same? And should I give it a try? Going to see if I can post some pics of a couple holsters I made.
