I'm seeing a wide variety in the prices of tools. I know you probably get what you pay for but is there that much differance in say a swivel knife that cost $50 and one that cost $20? I don't want to spend a lot of money in case this is something that just doesn't "click" with me. I realize this isn't exactly a cheap hobby and I want usable tools but I live somewhere between "broke" and "barely gettin' by" (got a kid in college ya know!).

Thanks for the welcome, guys. Whew...there is so much info on this forum it's making my head spin! I kinda feel like an old sow gettin' a back scratch - not sure whether to move left, right, up or down but so long as it don't stop I'm happy.

I'm so excited to find you all! I'm still in the "aquiring info" stage but hope to start making custom holsters and other items soon. I've been doing a lot of reading and window shopping at Tandy's web site. I haven't even bought a single tool yet (doing a little research so I don't buy the wrong things). I'll be mostly lurking for a while and hope you don't mind if I ask a lot of "uneducated" questions. I've already learned a lot from you guys and look forward to learning even more.
