  1. RobM, On this one, I used neatsfoot oil first, followed by a few coats of resolene, then a coat or 2 of carnauba wax with a buff in between, then a coat or 2 of parade black kiwi with a buff, and finally a few coats of clear gloss and even more buffing. I swear my finishing process takes longer than the work on the project sometimes but in the end, it's always worth it.

The finish looks like it is worth the effort. I've always done either carnauba wax or a sheen sealant. Does the wax absorb in on top of the resolene?

  2. I have been reading these forums for awhile and finally decided to make my first post. I am looking for suppliers that sell leather shoulders in small quantities. I found Texas Knifemaker's Supply and it appears that they sell buy the sq. ft. The other places I have found sell in 10 plus sq. ft. All the pro's say don't go cheap on the leather so I'd like to find something decent for a couple of sheaths I am going to attempt. Thanks in advance for any info.

I end up buying the tooling shoulders at Tandy most of the time. They are generally 7-8 oz and in the $25-$40 range, depending on the sale they are having, for enough leather for me to do most of the small projects I do. I don't know if it is the highest quality leather but for a novice such as myself, it works well. I still cringe at buying 15-20 sq ft of leather when I only need a few to continue learning.
