  1. Thanks much 'Bluesman' for your comment/compliment! It just so happened that I did actually write my name on the underside of support block. The stitching pony shall remain in service until the day I obtain a Tippmann Boss machine! Then I shall consider putting the stitching pony up for sale.

V ery cool. Sign it for it will be an heirloom.

  2. Thank you Blazin for your compliment! I hope that my reply to your comment shall be helpful to you!

The purpose for making the stitching pony/quarter horse was mutli-fold; out of practical necessity, since I have yet to obtain/afford a Tippmann-Boss machine, and needed a 'third pair of hands' to securely hold a leathercraft project as I stitched project together, and it actually helped to increase productivity time!

With respect to where you can get the instruction book; Tandy Leather store usually has them available. The book title is "The Art Of Hand Sewing Leather", by Al Stohlman". .In the last few pages of the book, you shall find the diagram & instructions on how to make your own Stitching Pony. And maybe if your like me, if you lack one or two items in the construction of the stitching pony, improvise!

I hope the information/reply was helpful to you fellow member!

That is a work of art in itself! I'd love to have the plans for that.

  3. Stitching Pony I made from mostly scrap wood & several hardware pieces, some improvised, that is an indespensable tool for me, especially since I have onset of arthritis in my powerhand! Until I can afford a Tippman machine,it serves me well! The design many may know, it was made based on the drafting & instructions by Al Stohlman in The Art of Hand sewing Leather by Al Stohlman, from Tandy.

Thank you much 'Suicide' for the two thumbs up, regarding the mocs I made for my family!

Currently, I have completed construction on a home made Stitching Pony, based on the design made by Al Stohlman (from the Art of Hand Sewing Leather) instruction book. Also just referbished a pair of used shoe lasts, and am looking forward to using them to improve workmanship on future moccasins!

    Again,thanks!

Thank you 'Suicide' for viewing and giving me the two thumbs up. It means much to me, the animation expresses more than words can! Again, thank you!

Being I am new to this site, learning to navigate my way around it, I hope that I shall view your and others leathercrafting!

I really like the owl as your avitar/profile!

  6. Greetings,

    My intro;

About 4 years ago I started leathercrafting small leather cases out of necessity. Being disabled and active. I require a more reliable case to secure & insure my tools & devices longevity. I got tired & disappointed in commercially made cases, because I found most of the commercial cases I bought in the past, did not last!

All of the leathercraft projects are hand made and hand stitched.

Several family & friends have asked me to make leathercraft items, I followed through.

Only recently I had been asked to instruct student classes, making small leather cases at a local Tandy Leather store. I enjoyed teaching, as well as learning from my students! I hope to see prior and new students in years to come.

In addition to teaching leathercrafting, another major goal of mine is to learn how to make shoeware, boots and orthotic shoes/boots for folks that need a practical & reliable orthotic shoe or boot that can meet their specific needs or demands for their lifestyle.

In due time, I hope that I can establish open communication of ideas, meaningful words of encouragement, tips, do's & don'ts, advice etc

Being that today is that special day that Christ was born, I shall rejoin my family and close this intro of myself for now.

I pray that everyone have joyous, loving, and safe holidays with family and friends (including our non human friends!),... wave.gif
