Hi, What a neat place! I am just getting into braiding with leather. I have done some work with parcord, and tied some rope halters, mostly making stuff for myself and friends. My husband and I run a small cow calf operation, plus a feedlot finishing out Holstein and Angus steers. We do a lot of work with our horses, and aussies. I have a hard time finding tack that I like and can afford so I started making my own. I am currently working on a set of romal reins out of paracord and am going to try and make the buttons out of rawhide. I don't know if this is a good idea but Im up for a try. I plan on trying a full rawhide set after. Does anyone know how to keep rawhide tack in wisconsin? We deal with a lot of rain, and humidity. Is there something to treat it with? Nice to meet everyone!
