  2. Hi I am making a pair of romel reins out of para cord and thinking of doing the buttons in rawhide. Yours are very nice! What did you use in the core of the reins, I just used another piece of para cord, but am not happy with the feel, or drape of the rein. Thanks MB
  3. Hi, What a neat place! I am just getting into braiding with leather. I have done some work with parcord, and tied some rope halters, mostly making stuff for myself and friends. My husband and I run a small cow calf operation, plus a feedlot finishing out Holstein and Angus steers. We do a lot of work with our horses, and aussies. I have a hard time finding tack that I like and can afford so I started making my own. I am currently working on a set of romal reins out of paracord and am going to try and make the buttons out of rawhide. I don't know if this is a good idea but Im up for a try. I plan on trying a full rawhide set after. Does anyone know how to keep rawhide tack in wisconsin? We deal with a lot of rain, and humidity. Is there something to treat it with? Nice to meet everyone! MB
  4. Looks good. I am going to try and make a bosal out of paracord, do you have any suggestions? How many strings did you plait around your core? How or what did you build up your nose piece? I have Gail Houghts book on making a bosea and was going to try and follow that! It looks kind of daunting but I'm up for a challenge! Any help or suggestions would be great!
