  1. Thanks for the tip! I'll look out for 3-4 ounce ones. I don't plan to carve or stamp my projects. Shoulder sounds good. Thanks!
  2. I'm looking to buy some veg tanned leather for small leather goods. I will be making card holders, wallets, clutch purse, journal covers, camera straps and perhaps small bags if my skills improve over time. As I have limited budget and space, I don't wish to purchase a full piece of cow hide for now. Which parts do you guys recommend for the above type of projects and why? I read that bellies has little use cos it's stretchy. Is it really that un-usable? What happens if I make a card holder using the belly part, will it stretch so much over time that cards may easily slip out?
  3. I will be travelling to Sydney & Melbourne for holiday in August, am hoping to visit stores selling leather and tools in either city. I'm looking to buy veg-tanned leather, as well as gold coloured leather (is this available), and perhaps a few tools and hardware like U-gouge. I did some research in this forum and gathered the following few stores recommended here: NSW Leather Co, Birdsall Leather and Leffler. Are there any other recommendations? The thing is, I understand most shops sell whole pieces of leather, but I'm looking to smaller portioned pieces, like maybe 3-5 sq feet of gold leather, half a piece of veg-tan etc. Does any of the shops stated above sell in smaller pieces (not scraps)?
