I am hoping to start making belts soon but I don't have any of the tools I need and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good started kit or just a short list they can give me to start making simple beaded belts. I also want to do some small carvings in the belts too. I am just looking to start into leather working and hopefully I will learn enough to make some solid products. Also does anyone know of a good book to get that will really help me get a good start? And one final question is what is a good work bench to use most people say they use granite on here? Any help would be great, Thanks.

Hi, everyone I am just starting my leather working. Some stuff about me I am 17 ride bulls and fight em and I am gonna start a apprentice ship with a family friend who has been leather working for many years and still does. Although her working mainly is around horse tack and repair. I just want to be a well rounded leather worker able to do most things and whatever I do I plan on taking time to make it look great. But back to the discussion I am looking for good tools to start with, I will mainly be making belts and small things to get the hang of stuff then when I get the hang of how stuff works I plan on moving into the larger more complex designs and projects.
