My new machine was tripping the clutch and I found that the lower shaft was bent, as well as the metal piece to the left of the gearbox broken. Juki calls that the “front metal piece”. I pulled the rocker piece that connects the upper and lower shafts and tried to bend the shaft back, but it snapped right off. I need the lower shaft and the metal piece. Anyone on here that can sell me those parts? And if you have suggestions on changing it without knocking everything out of time I’d appreciate that too. Right now I’m planning on loosening the locking screws on everything mounted to the shaft and tapping the new one in while pushing the old one out with the new one. Hopefully that will keep everything aligned.

Sorry guys, I swore I updated this. I had the machine threaded wrong, the thread wasn’t engaging the take-up spring. Also, the bobbin hold tab was not in the notch of the presser plate. I fixed those and the machine works great.

Hello again guys. It's been a while since I've been on here bothering you with my machine issues, but I'm back and looking for some advice. I was able to get through some boat seats last time, but now I'm looking at doing some nice upholstery for my daughter's first car (64 Comet) and I don't want the machine to mess up on me. The problems I'm having are: Top thread breaking. It was working fine today for about 2 feet before the top thread broke, now I have these other issues Bottom thread building massive loops of thread in the bobbin area When it does sew and not just bunch up thread on the bottom, the bottom switch is very loose Singer 111w101 needle goes to bottom and then raises up 3/32 of an inch, as best I can see Hook meets needle at 1/16 above the eye Hook is almost touching needle Top and bottom thread feel like the same tension when I pull them Timing belt is in great shape Everything has been oiled Top stitch Bottom stitch Bobbin thread routing Top thread routing I was having trouble before with the tensioner for the top thread, couldn't get it to hold mild tension without keeping the thread from passing through, so I replaced it. The new one is grabby too if I seat the thread in it, so for now I just have it laid in there as sort of a guide. This part is new Any guidance you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated. I was going to sell it and look for one that's not going to make me crazy, and also that has reverse, but the market is really high right now so I'm going to have to just figure this one out. I will call in a pro if I can't get it. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Wiz. I'm familiar with a walking foot because of my 111W101, I just couldn't tell in the photo. I'll pass on the machine and keep looking. I wish there was a way I could lower the stitch per inch count under 8 and add reverse to my machine, but since I can't I'm going to have to find something else before I start on the seats for my daughter's car.

Dang. Ok, thanks guys. Disappointing but that's the info I was looking for. Do you think it would be capable of multiply layers of vinyl? They did say it has a walking foot. I appreciate the help!

All the ad says is that it’s a Pfaff. I’m trying to figure out if it has a walking foot and reverse before I spend 2 hours in the truck to go get it tomorrow. I know the easy answer is to ask the seller for the model but they don’t have it right now, it’s at their shop. If it does I’m going to get it to replace my 111w101. Thanks

I will do that. How much tension should there be on that spring? Mine is really weak and if it's not supposed to be I may need to adjust or replace it. Do they wear out?

Well, I looked at the inner foot and the needle seemed to be a little close to the rear of the hole so I took the foot off and drilled the hole bigger, then polished the edges so they weren't sharp. Still no joy. I did watch the thread while turning the flywheel by hand and realized that when the needle is coming up from the material the thread seems to be wrapped around the needle itself. I think when it creates this wrap the tip of the needle is snagging the thread. Would that be a timing issue? Also, I'm not sure at what point in the scarf of the needle the hook is supposed to intersect. The eye is way at the bottom of the scark, but my hook intersects closer to the halfway point (maybe a little above) on the upward stroke of the needle. Is that right? Thanks guys!

Thanks guys, I'll look into these when I get home. I didn't even think about the hole in the foot, haven't looked at that at all.

Ok, I have a Singer 111w101 and have made every adjustment I can think of, from adjusting the shaft position of the hook gear to adjusting tension on the top thread and I still get this issue. If I run the machine by hand, the top thread does fine, but as soon as I put some power to it, almost regardless of speed, I get freying on my top thread at the needle. Eventually it nicks the thread fibers enough that the thread breaks and I have to back up and start over where the issue began. I thought it might have been from burrs on the throat plate so I pulled it, re-drilled the hole and polished it top and bottom so I know that's not it either. I was able to live with it on my last project, but now it's doing it about every foot of sewing. Any theories or ideas? I really appreciate any help you guys can give! Thanks in advance, Justin
