I have a Techsew 5550RF with the desk/lamp, smart servo motor.. I'm considering selling. I'm located in Tampa Bay, FL and would not be looking to ship the item unless it can be done cost efficiently. Machine is in fine condition and was purchased new from leatherworker.net sponsor Raphael sewing. Any interest please contact me to discuss further.

I have excess in this color and need to come up with some funds if I can. This is a beautiful hide, it's soft, no holes in belly.. plenty of pics below. Professionally tanned peanut brittle wild American alligator hide, uncut. I'm pricing this to move fast at an asking price of $425 OBO. I'll ship this 2-day priority mail CONUS. Nothing really to say, great hide I hand picked with intent to use. Pics below, any questions or offers will be promptly replied to.

Thanks for the replies! I'm unfamiliar with heat burnishing edges. I'll have to do some searching on that. thanks! Since I use edge coatings on these particular watch straps, would you be comfortable applying that on top of dried & burnished saddle soap edges? Yes it does. That was my thought, to make the whole piece, then cut it out all at once rather than cutting and adding the pieces together as I go. The reason I haven't done this sooner is everything looks very flush until I put the edge coating on. I think the veg-tan is yielding to the edge coating and sanding quicker than the croc upper and pig lower. Thanks for the replies, any input no matter how big or small is welcomed and appreciated!

Make or break a real opportunity for me.. I’m a watch strap maker. I’ve been at this for a while now and make some nice straps. That said, there are still some areas that antagonize me that I really wish I could perfect. I’ve searched and tried just about everything.. Now I’m begging for help! I’m having a hard time creating a perfected edge on some of my layered straps. Top layer is alligator/croc, center is a tapered wedge of veg tan, the bottom is a pig lining. Are hand rolled edges even possible on this hide? Am I better off rolling or painting? These straps are time consuming, spending even more time creating rolled edges might be cost prohibitive. I have blended myself a good edge coating, but the leather itself seems impossible to get even, so my edges look like this. What can I do? Ive tried gum trag, sanding, detailed sanding and shaping with dremels.. I'm not getting anywhere!

Thanks for the replies. I'm not using dye, edge coat is basically acrylic paint. I'm using a product specifically designed for this, just thought maybe I was missing something, perhaps sealing it somehow. I can't dye a black straps edge yellow, or red, dye isn't a solution i'm afraid. I tried searching around the forums and google and didn't have much luck. This can be done successfully as I have competition out there doing it on a regular basis.

Hello all, thanks in advance for any help. I make & sell watch straps, but I have run into a problem with both of my current edge coating options. They feel a bit tacky after drying, and I have noticed some color residue staying behind on my wrist. I had one customer complaint that the black edge coating left a mark on his wrist also. What am I doing wrong? I can't figure it out... My currently used options are Fiebing's edge coat, which I paint onto the edge after i've smoothed them with gum trag. I let the edge coat dry and thats it. The other option I've been recommended and trying is 5 parts Eco-Flo Cova Color, 1 part Eco-Flo Satin sheen. Same process, painted on gum trag smoothed edge and left to dry. This seems to work great, but this last strap I had residue on my wrist with a little perspiration. Burnishing is nice but I need options. I have customers that want yellow/red/blue, all sorts of varieties and I need to be able to keep up with demand. At the very least, I am in major need of a black and brown solution to this problem.
