  • How did you find leatherworker.net?

  1. What do you put underneath your leather when cutting? For example, with knife or punches... I am think a chunk of plywood would probably do the trick; what are other people's experiences? Before, I've put old leather underneath, but I generally just end up going through it when punching, or having to wrench it off. TIA!
  2. I've never even heard of burying bone to "sanitize" it. I would probably just scrub it, and bleach it. You don't want bugs growing on your bone, and you don't want it to smell like a dead thing. If you need to shape it, you could wear a dust mask and use a Dremel on it. You can also chip it with rocks to shape it well, like you were making an arrowhead.
  3. My old account, Anonnymouse, wouldn't let me back in. I forgot my password and the password retrieval system is broken, so I just made a new account. That one only had a couple posts on it anyways. So, for what it counts for, I have been browsing here for at least a year. I'm fairly new to leatherworking, and am currently working on a leather notebook. (It will have a goat on it. Why hasn't anyone else done a tooled leather goat??) I am a farmer of a small, humble farm in the middle the humble Ozarks mountains. My regular username is HeritageFarm; perhaps someone may recognize that but I doubt it. Looking forward to asking questions here again. ~Cheers, Ted
