  1. Thanks for the help guys, Dwight just out of curiosity why should I stay away from USMC black?
  2. Does anyone know what I can use to keep the black dye from running of leather when it gets wet? I am making a pair of saddle bags, the leather is veg tanned, I have used Midnight black, Eco-Flo dye. I gave it 3 coats of dye, and then a coat of Neats foot oil, then I rubbed some beeswax on it and tried to melt it into the leather, when I dropped a little water on it I still keep getting black dye when I wipe it with a paper towel. Obviously I don't want it to run if the guy I am making it for has a brown saddle and to have blackish marks where the saddle bags go because it got wet. So does anyone know how I can keep the black dye from rubbing off?
  3. Alright guys I need some help, and our dogs like to go swimming with us. I have made leather collars for them and I was wondering what would you guys use to finish and water proof the leather collars, dipping in beeswax or snow- seal? Thanks.
  4. That looks great! That is also awesome that the customer had you keep enough for you to make one for yourself.
  5. Hmm. Interesting so I definitely need to make it a little on the loose side. Ok thanks.
  6. Thanks but I didnt sew the bottom closed and I still had trouble pushing it throught. I think I might try it with veg tanned leather, I think the leather I used for the pocket is chrome tanned.
  7. I am making a phone case for my grandpa. But it is one of those phones that is the size of a tablet LOL. I am having a problem with the pocket for it. I don't want it to be like the multi-tool case on the right to where if it is tipped upside down it falls out. But I don't want it to be so tight that is impossible to pull out like it is on the left. How can I make it a little more easier to pull out? Thanks.
