I have been in the market for die cutting for months. I actually work with vinyl on velcro (like embroidered patches but vinyl to decorate the patch instead of thread). I know this is a leather community but every time I search anything to do with die clickers, posts from this forum come up, so I think you guys would be a great help!
I was really interested in the Weaver Hand Clicker Press. My material is like 1/8th of an inch thick so I am assuming I don't need a high quality clicker to get it done. What I need is speed. The way the clicker swivels to the side and instantly clicks down, I don't think anything could be faster. That's why I don't want the ton press from harbor freight or something like the tippman clicker. We will be cutting hundreds of patches at a time, so speed and effeciency is important. Also, so is accuracy. I like the cookie cutter dies. Our patches will already be made and have to line up 100% accurate.
I contacted Weaver about getting a press a long time ago. They quoted me $950 + $150 shipping. I didn't go through with it at the time. I was ready to order one yesterday and contacted them again. They quoted me the same deal, but said that if I could go to a show I could get it for less and not pay shipping. Of course, I am in Nevada and the closes show they will be having is Arizone 6 months from now! So I said, no thanks, I will pay extra to get it this week. Then they said, oh well it will actually be $1450 + $150 since you are buying it online! That's more than twice what I have heard people on here pay ($700) during special discounts or at shows. And $500 more than what they quoted me two days ago.
I am really annoyed because they quoted me $950 twice, once a few months ago, and once again two days ago. Then all of a sudden are asking $500 more.
I heard on here that Lucris clickers are better quality anyways. I can get one shipped to me for $1775. Are there any better dealers? I really wanted the cheaper weaver, because like I said my material is really thin and easy to cut. I thought that the weaver being less durable would not be an issue for this reason. I was also planning to spend around $1100 on the clicker and $500 on dies. This blows my whole budget.
I just don't want to overpay by hundreds of dollars, so if I want to resale I take like a 70% hit! I am also really annoyed at weaver right now for lying to me for months about the cost of their clickers. Please let me know if you can recommend any dealers or other clickers than the Weaver/Lucris that are less expensive. Thanks!!!!
