I have been a lurker on this site for some time and have found this place to be an amazing pool of knowledge. I am new to leather work and love it! When I was younger my grandfather did a lot of leather and raw hide work. When I would visit he would take me out into his shop and let me stamp out some leather and play with rawhide. unfortunately my grandfather passed before I was able to learn from him. As I have gotten a little older I have looked at the work my grandfather did and have wanted to try and do the same. I don't want the art to die and thus have begun attempting to work leather. I know my pieces are far from perfect but I will post the photos, My interests right now are holsters, sheaths, and braiding. (I am not going to post any of my braids yet I am working on acquiring a few tools that will make braiding easier). In the future i would like to obtain a sewing machine and try my and at different projects... we will se This is my SR22, i know the stitching near the rail is not straight but i purposely moved the inner line of stitching closer to the gun to increase the friction the holster placed on the gun. This is my Becker BK2 sheath. I attempted to make a thigh holster, while it does function well there are lots of improvements that i am already planning on making.
while i know none of these are perfect if you have any advice for me i would love to hear your advice and improve my skills.
