Tempestleather,
Any idea how I can find out more about this polymer coating, like where to source it? Have you experimented at all with dye sublimation on leather and had good results?

I've been trying to figure out how to transfer or print vivid and durable designs onto leather. I know it can be done because there is an etsy shop called Tovicorrie that sells exquisite printed leather goods: https://www.etsy.com/shop/tovicorrie. Some examples of their work are shown below. Anyone have an idea what process they might be using? Digital printing? Dye sublimation? Wizardry?

I took a sample of this type of thing to the art and picture framing show in Las Vegas a few years ago and talked with some people who sell the hardware to the picture industry and they showed me how it was done. Its really not that expensive to bu the equipment and not that hard to do. At the moment, I forget the name of the company, however the Las Vegas show is in another week or so. If anyone is interested, I can try and find out, who the company is and you can contact them and get all the details. As i remember, their was a special solution that was put on the leather before printing. It did not seem very difficult. Being retire, I was not interested in starting another business.
Regards.
Bill
Yes Cajun, I'd love to know the company and the solution that they treat their leather with prior to printing!

Hi All,
I'm new to sewing and new to working with leather, but I have a collection of leather remnants and an inherited industrial singer sewing machine (20U-109) that I would like to start experimenting with. I'm interested in trying my hand at making handbags and possibly some leather garments. I've read online that my machine can be used to sew leather, but when I called about getting my machine serviced, I was told that it would not sew leather. Has anyone used this type of machine for sewing leather? And more importantly, what kind of machine would you recommend to someone who was just starting out sewing leather?
Thanks All, for any insight you may have!

I'm learning to brain-tan leather and was wondering about the advantages and disadvantages of using brain-tanned leather for tooling. I'm new to leatherworking, but am ultimately interested in transferring illustrations onto leather and carving them like this. Everything that I've read thus far indicates that I should be using veg-tanned leather rather than brain-tanned leather, but I'd like to be able to use the same leather for tooling that I'm using for garment construction. Any advice for a beginner?

Thanks! This is actually one of the products that I found after this afternoon's research. I dropped the seller a message and look forward to experimenting and sharing my results!
