Well first of all thank you and God Bless you as well, Ray. This one is ok to use as it is right now Ray. What I meant by refurbish was to take it apart, clean, sand and refinish it. Maybe replace the leather strap at the same time. A couple of weekends and this would be a nice showpiece as well as a wonderful tool to have. Contact me at jddennehy@yahoo.com to negotiate a price if you are interested.

Hi Terry,
I am going to take a closer look at this one this weekend. I want to see if there are any markings under it. I did notice that the jaws will come off easily. There are a couple of wedges under the seat holding the jaws in place. I would really like to find out more about it. If its that old maybe I should re think selling it and refinish it one day. Do you have pictures of yours? Have a good one!

Vintage Stitching pony from the Dan-D Knife and leather shop in Del Norte, Colorado. I remember him using this when I was a kid and it's the one I learned to stitch on. We don't have room or the need for another one. I also don't have the time to rufurbish it. Make me a reasonalble offer. It works as is and would make a great project to clean up and refinish.

I know there are some knifemakers on here and others that might be interested in some of this stuff from my dad's knifeshop in Del Norte Colorado. I don't have the time to pack it all up and move it. Everything goes from the light fixtures, benches to equipment and tools.
At this point it would be best to stear you to a couple videos on u tube showing work being done in the shop. Most of the leather tools are gone and I am keeping some of the knife equipment. However there is a lot there to look at.
132" Bader floor mount belt sander with a couple hundred belts. Buffers. Saws and other sanders. Drill presses, vises and to much else to list. Contact me for more information.

A friend up here in Fort Collins, CO is asking for someone to make a shirt or jacket from some elk skins he currently has. He is hoping for someone in Northern Colorado or Southern Wyoming. I imagine he would consider doing this through the mail if the opportunity was right. Please contact me with any information.
Thanks,

I am looking for a Leather Craft Home Study Course. I have seen one on E-Bay a long time ago, and have seen in older Hidecrafter Catalogs one by George Hurst. In looking at the pictures I can say that I don't want to be a judge. There are so many diversified items and styles of work and all of it looks Top Notch!
And a "Thank You" to yourself for the reporting, pictures, help and advise. And another on to all the hard work the voluteers do to host these shows!!!!

Thank you Johanna,
That helps. I am just trying to get a handle on all this as we discussed before.
I entered the miniature Buscadero rig. Looks like it did win a wee something. (blush) (rubs toe of boot in dirt).
Aw shucks now, I wasn't askin for anyone to take notice.
So I entered in the advanced division for the first time and only the one entry. If I understand correctly from some of the other posts I would need to enter enough to win 9 more times before getting moved up? Does any win count? Or if I remember something you mentioned before there has to be something extraordinary for the judges to make the determination.
Am I finally getting the gist of this through me thick Irish head?
John D
One more question - If myself or anyone else that entered this year does an extraordinary piece before the next show, can we enter in the next higher division or do we stay in the one entered this year? Leave it up to the judges?

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and is looking forward to a wonderful New Year. I know I am. I have not been on for a couple of years and figured it's time to get reconnected. I look forward to reconnecting with old friends and getting to make some new ones. Attached is a little something in the works. The knife is one of ten Commemorative Dan-D Bowie knives like the one he donated to the Alamo in 1968 and is still on display today.
