  1. Nice work. Welcome to the forum!
  2. So you are the one listing them. I have been following them on eBay and really enjoyed seeing the clickers for the purse models. I would interested in a couple, but Texas is not that close to Tn. Sorry.
  3. If it was my project...............I can think of three things off the bat.............I do not know what type of leather was used here. I am going to ASSUME that it was veg-tan with a liner. (1) It appears to be too short in length cause it to flip open at the mouth. If you wanted it to close, I would added another at least 3/4" (2) as for the edges. I believe the pressure of the shortness of the width and glue failure MAY have caused the edges to open up. I glue my edges with two layers of glue before I press them together and then sew them up after pressing them together to make sure they seal correctly. I have some belts with liners where I only used contact cement and no thread. Years later, they are still holding together. Plus, contact cement can be used while veg-tan is wet. Some saddle makers use it this way all of the time. Okay, enough damaging your work product. How can you fix it. Again, if it was MY project. I would cut the sides down and make it a iPad Mini carrier OR re-do the whole thing again! If you want to save this project here are a couple of things that I would suggest to you. I would un-stitch the sides down about 3-4 inches. I would add a few 3/4" strips to the top to help re-enforce the edges. This might work, but I feel that the short length that may still cause problems. You may want to add a strap as well with your choice of closure. I also agree that molding leather takes quite a while. I usually molding my leather overnight with the item intact. good luck.
  4. Try Van Amberg Leathers. He specializes in exotic leathers.
  5. Nice work! Welcome to the forum. Be careful with that tightening center bolt. Don't get your sewing thread caught on it.
  6. You have a very interesting product here. I have only purchased one pony which was a Tandy product. After finding so many issues with that product, I have made my own since then. I have learned quite a few things from seeing other ponies and horses. You might have more success in the UK just merely due to the high cost of shipping to the USA. My last pony is sitting on my workbench right now in pieces getting ready for yet another retrofit. I see at least one thing that you have on your model displayed in your picture. I have decided to remove that center bolt with springs completely. It just didn't work for me. Some other changes will follow that I do not want to write because I haven't made a final decision. I appreciate you sharing with us your product and wish you much success!
  7. Welcome to the forum Alamo!
  8. I do not like my Ceramic blades mainly because I do have nerves issues and sometimes my tools fall from loss of grip. The ceramic blades kept chipping and I kept having to put an edge back on them. In some of my other swivel knives, I have replaced the blade with all Barry King blades....you just cannot beat the price for a good blade. And Barry knows because I bought like 8 of them at the last show in different sizes and widths. Good luck
  9. Ditto on Texas Custom Dies. I recommend them. They have made some great dies for me with some difficulties in the lines and cuts needed.
  10. You'll have to hammer the hook flat and dull the tips to prevent injuries, but it looks like it might work!
  11. These are embossed using a plate and press. These designs & products belong to Anvil Custom Leather. Welcome to the forum!
  12. The P-38 and those rivet setters are worth the $5 bucks! Nice find!
  13. I own most brands of swivel knives on the market with the exception of a Tangleboss. The one that use the most in order. SK-3, Chuck Smith Ol'Smoothie and my Barry King. If you are serious about this craft, I would suggest an SK-3, Henley, Bob Beard Pro-Series, or Ol' Smoothie in no particular order. If you are just going out to get slowly, you cannot go wrong with a Barry King knife for the cost. Even if you just want to make a small investment I would buy a BK blade for $15 and put it in your craftool. This is what I usually recommend to beginners because just the swivel knives can get costly. When I get a chance to get a Tangleboss, and I will. I will be able to give some recommendations. Just my opinion.
