Dave at Artisan called me and immediately identified the problem, the eccentric on top shaft had slipped out of time 180 degrees. Following his instructions had it back in no time. Nice to be sewing in the right direction again!! Thanks Dave!

My Toro 4000 has for some reason started feeding backwards. Stitch length is fine, heck, everything is fine except one has to sew in reverse. I called Artisan and left a message for the techs to call me back, which they have not done. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the help.

I had the same problem on an old Singer 16-188, it turned out to be that the hook assembly was wore from too many years of sewing dirty horse blankets. I put in a new hook and the problem was solved. There was enough slack that the hook would crowd into the needle and cut the thread. Hope this helps you.

After years of hand sewing shearlings on skirts and all the other little jobs on heavy leather I saved enough to get a Artisan 4000. If I could get it in the bed I'd sleep with it! This machine is amazing and Steve at Artisan helped me every step of the way. I purchased a used singer earlier this year hoping to get by but still had to hand sew the "tuff" projects. My advice to anyone who is considering a machine is to not make the mistake I did and buy too small, save awhile longer and definately go for overkill you won't be sorry!

I couldn't find a ten year old kid to help guide me through all the leather working sites that came up when I did a search and stumbled on to this one all on my own! What a lucky break. I have had more questions answered here in a couple of hours than the years that I have picked other leather workers brains. I live in southwest Wyoming, have a little cow outfit that is struggling to survive the drought and work at a feed store part time. Past leather working has always been of necessity, now it fills the slow times at work. I find this pastime a challenge and very enjoyable. To all of you that post pictures of projects, I am in awe of the artistry and pride that are in every project that I have viewed and realize that I have a ways to go!
