  1. You are probably right. I have had this machine about three years and have about 6 hours of sewing time on it.
  2. The original needle that come with machine got broke...but not after a lot of abuse from a novice like myself. I found these needles in the drawer with a bunch of stuff. I have broke two since with a lot less abuse. I'm wondering if there could be a quality issue with these needles.
  3. Thank you Sir! I will give that a look. The last thing I sewed was a box cushion and I did smack the feed dog a few times trying to make too tight of a curve.
  4. They seam to be sharp when I stab them into my finger.
  5. Not sure. Package says 135x17 DPx17 Groz -Beckert They came with machine.
  6. Could it be the needle? Works ok through a couple layers of vinyl. Maybe the thread I think it's v90.
  7. Hi guys and gals, need some help. Been using my 111w 155 for a while and she's been doing great! I just got into some 5 layers of denim and shes cutting my needle thread in just 1 or two stitches. Any thoughts?
  8. Definitely going with Toledo as Wiz suggested. You are right! I did not mean to advertise for this other company. Just cut and pasted from Fleabay. Thanks and I hope to get back on my machine soon.

  10. Thanks for the info. I kind of figured that some one would have figured out how to reverse the motor if it would make it sew in reverse. There are many different people selling Servo motors on Ebay. The motor look almost identical and more than likely are made in the same China factory. Do you people recommend a manufacturer or seller? I'm looking at the $100 to $150 motors.
  11. Hello Everyone! Been a while since I have been on here. Summer has me very busy with other projects, but with the crispness of Fall in the air my attention has swung back to my sewing. I admit that I have not been practicing at all with the old Singer and need to get back at it. I initially got a little scared because of the high speed and would like to slow the old girl down. I plan on trying the reduction of the motor pulley first and with probably end up with a servo motor, but this got me thinking. First question is and this will probably squelch the rest of my idea. If I reverse the direction of the motor on my Singer 111w155 will it sew in reverse? Or will I get a big rats nest. Thanks
  12. I will scan the Parts book and the Light Fixture info I have on Monday when I'm at work.
  13. https://youtu.be/71DPLtqpRds I found this video and at the 8 minute mark he shows a 4 ways of locking the stitch. I like the start sewing with the foot up slightly to stop the material from moving, then drop the foot and take off.
  14. Thanks to Uwe for helping me get out there. ENJOY!! http://docs.uwe.net/Singer-Class-111-Instructions.pdf
  15. I tried to attach the PDF of the manual, but file is too large. I hate to compress and loose detail. Uwe, I pm'ed you.
  16. I could have used the 180 flip method since I was sewing a small piece, but have grand ideas of doing a large piece and will have to learn the lift/ pull back technique. I think the problem is that I lifted the foot too high with my knee, which took the tension off and then had to control the speed of the clutch motor. Its like playing the piano . I will continue to practice. I do have a very important question though. I am using the thread that came with the machine. There is not much left. I found a tag on the bottom of the spool. QTC "High-Spec" B69 4oz 510603 745Q Beaver Bonded Nylon. I have 135x17 Needle and I am sewing 2 layer Marine Vinyl with Welt. I will need to buy some thread is this correct for this material?
  17. Pulled on both the threads before I started stitching some light Vinyl tonight. Worked much better. Little better with the clutch but still have to figure out the "finess" with back stitching. I broke the thread trying to back it up to lock the stitch.
  18. Thanks going to try running some marine grade vinyl tonight. Bobbins are pretty cool. No think I'm going to buy some more real bobbins and try winding them on the machine.n
  19. First of all I want to thank of you for your guidance in choosing a machine. I finally got it into my upstairs sewing room and all set up. I rethreaded the machine and reinstalled the bobbin (just to practice). I fired up the clutch motor and I was off to the "RACES" Holy !@#$ this thing is fast! I attempted to get a feel for the clutch and ended up throwing a block of wood under the pedal to keep it from hitting Mach 1. I made some test passes in 3 layers of light weight canvas. Worked pretty good. I am having some bunching of thread on the bottom side upon start. I applied tension to the bobbin thread upon takeoff and that seamed to help some. After more research it looks like I should have applied the tension to the needle thread or even both. Its only the first three or so stiches that are balling up on the bottom of the material. Another thing is the bobbin. The bobbin thread in the machine right now is not in a bobbin, it seams just be tightly wound. Its a little like magic... I have no idea how it holds it shape and doesn't unravel. Can you buy pre-wound bobbins?(That are not in Bobbins) Thanks -Ed
  20. Thanks for the picts. I would like to find one that clamps to the ball. I have made a clamp that will work for now. I appreciate your effort at finding one.
  21. Awsome! I will get the scans done ASAP, as see what quality I can produce.
  22. My scanner at work is better than mt homes, so I will do it there. Give me a couple of days, but I will get it done. I am always looking for manuals and appreciate the time and effort people put into scanning them and then letting us have them for free. It kills me that most of the machines I work on (Cars, motorcycles, tractors etc... are over 30 years old and there are people out there trying to sell you a manual. Anyone who has any Patriotism would appreciate the effort it takes to keep these symbols of American Industry alive.
  23. I just made a clamp that works for know, but you never know if someone has one around. I was thinking LED bulb would be great.
