Hello all. Let me first say that I am very novice. I am just starting to try my hand at leatherworking. I have played around with some carving and stamping a bit and would like to try making an actual item now. I would like to start by making a western pleasure show head stall. I tried carving a couple of free hand designs on some scrap straps, none of which looked good enough. I plan on using a 3/4 inch wide strap with a small edge to sew down. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Maybe a simple repeatable pattern for my first project? For generl style i would like to go for please refer to harris or blue ribbon saddles for their headstalls. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
