  1. Hey guys, I am new here and was going to order some supplies to practice my stitching. Going to practice on watch straps and wallets. What kind of leathers should I be looking for both the outside of the strap/wallet and the lining of the watch strap? Some leathers I have found are Chevre Chagrin, fjord calf, and 3oz or 5oz Veg Tanned by buttero. Will any of these do or all? A little lost starting up and could use some help. Thanks!
  2. Yes I'm quickly learning while building my inventory a few tools was a bit misguided :P.
  3. I used to have a king 1000/6000 combo stone for my Japanese kitchen knives. I was given a gesshin 2000 grit stone to try out one day from a friend. You can find the stones at japaneseknifeimports.com. These stones blow any king away but you pay a price for them. I now have a 1000, 2000, 4000, and 8000 stones for microbeveling. But if you have any questions just email Jon over there and he will help you out for not only knives but any kind of blade and steel as he is a steel junkie as well. Hope this helps.
  4. Hello all. I am new here and have just started to get into leather working. I am very green and have no experience in this trade. I am from a public education background (teacher/administrator) with an emphasis on computers. My hobby used to be building extremely high end custom water cooled computers. However, I have found a recent fascination with leatherworking. I always liked plain leather products like watch bands, wallets, and belts with perfect small stitching and have decided to try and devote a couple years to learning something new to see if I really like it. I will apologize in advanced if I ask a lot of questions (dumb questions) as I am only trying to learn. I'll post some work as it's being created but I'm still in my reading books/research online/gathering a few tools phase. Hope to talk to you all in the forums!
