So, I've seen folks suggest using a drill press to make their stitching holes. I tried this with a finish nail the other day on some scrap pieces and it punched just fine. The only hang up was that the leather got, well, hung up on the nail and had to be pulled off. Does anyone have any suggestions to counter this? Thanks, Kevin

So, a co-worker asked if I could make him a sheath for a 18"-20" blade Bowie knife. The leather I have on hand is 8-9 oz shoulder. Will this be stout enough to support a knife of that weight? I haven't seen the knife, but any suggestions for making a sheath for a knife that big? Thanks, Kevin

Hi all, another newbie here! I've been dabbling in leatherwork for about a year now and am at the point where I actually want to make things that don't suck. I have no artistic flare, so I find carving and tooling leather to be a very daunting endeavor and so, haven't really gotten into it. I have, though, made some useful things, like the holster I posted in the "Show off!" forum. My inspiration comes from function, and this goes for all of my creative hobbies. Anyway, I look forward to seeing what you all are capable of and learning what I can. Kevin

Hi all! I'm new to the forum and have finally finished my first major project - a holster for my Sig Sauer P320. If your familiar with the P320, you might find, like I do, that the grip texture is very aggressive. So, instead of a "combat cut" I went with a backing that protects the body from the grip texture. I also added a suede backing to the holster as well.
