I've been messing with rawhide for awhile now and could use some advice. My dad has a saddle and boot shop in northern Utah and I've talked to him but the ol timers he knew that braided rawhide have passed. I have the Bruce Grant book and Gail Hought books but could use help. What should your strands feel like when they are ready to split, when they are ready to bevel, and when it's ready to braid? Any and all advice with cutting and braiding rawhide will be greatly appreciated. If anyone is close that is willing to teach please let me know. I don't want this dying trade/art to end.
