Hi,
I would like to share my experience of a “nobody” (and non pro) who ordered some leathers from www.cordovan.co. Back in June, I ordered two avancorpo and two cordovan shells to try out this supplier, leather looked nice on pictures, several people looked happy with what they received.
Back to my order, the leathers I ordered were supposed to be
natural pullup 0.82m2, 8.83sqf
a blue one 1.18m2, 12.7sqf
Large purple shell cordovan (60-70cm60-70cm, 25-28”25-28”)
Medium green shell cordovan (45-55cm50-60cm, 17-22”19-25”).
What I received:
The natural avancorpo one, has a big hole of 13cm~ in the middle with another one next to it, third-class quality.
The blue one has a small hole in the middle at 2/3 from the right, second-class quality
The large purple is smaller than the green one, dimensions are respectively 68cm45cm and 68cm48cm but beside this, they look fine.
So while the green is a bit larger than the medium size, the purple one is just at the minimal width of medium size.
Let’s say that I am fairly disappointed. Moreover when I asked on their IG if it was normal to receive these, the only answer I got was : if you are disappointed, we’ll send you the return address, please send an email to hello@cordovan.co (in other words, get lost)
Their feedbacks through email exchanges were exactly the same, they persist saying that the avancorpo quality and holes are to be expected from them and usual from any shops selling avancorpo. Regarding the shell sizing, what matter is the surface area for the shells and not the pictures or size information on their own website.
What to conclude from their feedback? Their website is not only misleading but definitely deceptive (to not say fraudulent), you have pictures of what to expect in term of dimensions.
Now I need to think if I should send back or not these, it’ll cost me about 50€ in packaging and transport (10%~ of the order) to not even be sure of a full refund considering the terms on their websites , basically full refund at their convenience (and considering their practices, I think I rather to no longer have to do anything with them).
Payment was done by paypal/visa and their terms for a refund is the merchandise to be sent back in order to "hope" for a refund after several months.
Did I mention that I also ordered some samples to check the colors for future orders after I actually made this order? And made my intent clear in a few email exchanges to buy additional things. So I guess they prefer to screw over their customers.
