  1. Thank you so much! Will the #138 be good for wallets, journals, knife sheaths and such? Veronica
  2. Got my sewing machine up and running today but I have a few questions- -It seems that the walking foot is leaving marks on the leather. Is there a way to adjust it? It is a Yamato FY5518.. -What is the ‘normal’ size of thread for most projects? The gentleman I bought it from had a #277 in it. The gentleman that is showing me the ropes does vehicle upholstery and as a trial run threaded it with #92.. I’m not sure how to find out what size needle is in it. -The thread on the underside of the leather is thin, almost like standard sewing thread. Does that mean my topside of projects will have a thicker thread and the underside be thin? I’ve been hand stitching the last 3 years so I’m hesitant about the thinner thread. Thank you!
  3. Thank you guys so much for the help. Here is a picture of it when I picked it up. The thread was not labeled or anything so I don’t know what size it is.
  4. I recently purchased a Yamata FY 5618 sewing machine from a lady whose husband had passed away a year or so ago and she knew nothing about it. She turned it on and it ran, but that’s all she knew how to do , he was the only one that used it. She said they belonged to a local motorcycle club and he sewed all the chaps, vests, belts, etc with it so I’m hoping it will work for the majority of what I make until I can move up to something a little bigger. how do I find out what type of thread /needles it uses? Is there anything special I need to know about it? I can’t find a user manual online anywhere.. Thank you Veronica
