Thanks everyone! Some else also told me to adjust the needle bar so that's what I'll do if it hasn't been already.

I’m currently looking at buying a singer 31-47 and see it takes 16x113 needles. I’m having an extremely hard time find a source for these in Canada. Can these machines take a different, more accessible needle? Or does anyone have tips on where to buy the ones that are required?
