  1. Thanks LA would the normal slicking preparation be suitable on the Chrome tan edge beforehand?
  2. Hi I'm a new comer to the craft and have a new project, I have made up a design, up where the front faces of the bags are two layers glued and the flap cover is the same. The layers will consist of backing layer 3 mm BLACK Veg tan and dress face 3 mm GREY/GREEN chrome tan with pull up, after gluing what will be the the best way to finish the edge, as they are two different types? I would like a high quality solid black edge if possible . In addition prior to gluing I want to put mushroom dome studs just through the finish chrome tan layer around the edge so they don't show on the inside. I am not sure whether to use decorative head rivets or normal prong studs what are the pros and cons.
  3. Hi all, I would like to start a motorcycle panniers project, I have seen that 7-9 oz leather is recommended. I have seen some chrome tan in the color I want but it is only 6-7oz ..could I glue an other additional hide to make up the difference on the reverse? is it practical,?? would it effect the overall temper??. If it is possible would it have to be chrome tan the same or could I use veg tan (I have thought of dyeing natural 7-9oz veg tan)but the color is not available anywhere and I am not sure I could do it proficiently if it was ) sorry if this is a basic query but I really would like the info ... thankx in advance.
