Thinking of investing in a Cowboy 8700 to edge crease and emboss belt blanks. Any thoughts, recommendations on how well this works on belt blanks? I don’t expect hand tooling quality, but can it produce sharp images? How useful is a heated roller option for pre-dyed blanks?

Newbie question......I’ve seen Japanese leather knives demonstrated where the knife is held at an angle so the beveled side of the knife edge runs along the ruler straight edge. Do most leather workers find it easier to run the knife straight edge against the ruler straight edge instead?Recommendation for someone learning the craft? thanks
