  1. HI! I have a Consew 226R1 and have sewn for years on it or similar equipment, so I am not a rookie. But that being said, I am feeling like a complete rookie right now. I oiled the machine really well as it had been sitting for quite a while. Then I checked the threading, bobbin was wound tightly, hand wheeled the needle thread to bring up bobbin thread, ready to go. So when I depressed the food pedal to walk a couple stitches forward, the machine went backwards. So I realigned and tried again, and I went backwards again, however if I use the reverse paddle it moves forward. So I looked through the little manual I had, and tried to reset the clutch, thinking that may be the problem. But the little inner button and rotating of the wheel manually away from myself did nothing. It won't engage, or drop deep enough to let me reset it as it did back in the day. I have power cleaned underneath, took the bobbin and hook off to see if there was anything stuck in there. I reoiled it again, and my feed dogs are still going the wrong way when I move the wheel manually. I am lost on what to do next, any suggestions? Thanks
