Thanks. I suspected that, but I didn’t want to do more damage. Hoping that that will solve the tension/skipped stitches issue.

Thanks for previous help on threading. Hopefully, last question… When I was working on threading, I accidentally loosened the second tension too much and it came apart. Now, the last piece (spring) that the thread runs through before going through the moving arm does not seem to be working properly. According to diagrams, there are 2 springs involved - one inner, one outer (that carries the thread away from that 2nd tensioner). The outer spring just flood - no spring tension. It would appear that it needs to engage the inner spring somehow, but I can’t find anything about reinstalling/connecting the 2 springs. I have attached a picture of the outer and inner spring (all other 2nd tensioner pieces still removed.) My only option other than this forum is a 3 hour roundtrip to Atlanta with my machine for repair. I promise not to dismantle anything else if I can get this problem solved…

Ferdco Pro 440r threading - manual’s diagram no help
PasoLargo replied to PasoLargo's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thanks! The GA5-1R looks exactly my Ferdco 440r. The only difference I see is that the 440r directions and Cowboy Bob say to go around the tension wheel 1-1/2 times. I don’ t see that in the video? I’ll go back and try both ways. kgg, thanks for the video Cowboy Bob, thanks for the manual Both helpful. -
Ferdco Pro 440r threading - manual’s diagram no help
PasoLargo replied to PasoLargo's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I am having trouble getting my Ferdco 440r Pro threaded. The manual diagram is useless. I think the incorrect threading is causing the machine to skip stitches. I changed to a new needle, adjusted tension upper and lower.
