Ok, thanks all for your answers. I ordered a swivelknife from Barry King. Pretty expencive inkluding tax and mail 1/2 around the world but its done :-)

No particular brand. I just wanted to figure out what size I needed for the blade to fit in. it is not 7/32 as I already have 3 of those but what would it then be. I mean its a B.K. blade, surely there must be a swivelknife it fits into. Yea I was thinking about it but I`d rather just buy a swivelknife that fits. Would save me the trouble thinking about the size of blade-shafts next time I am buying any kind of blade or beveler.

Hello I have a Barry King blade for swivelknife but the shank of the blade is too wide to fit in a 7/32 (5,55 mm ) swivelknife and I guess that is the standard size as that size is what I can find even though I once have seen a different size. The size of the B.K.blade shank is, as far as I can measure it, 6,2 mm. Sorry I am unable to figure out what that is in */* even I tried as an non-inches person :-) What size shank-space in the swivelknife am I looking for ?

Hmm strange, it opens to me, unfortunately the guy didnt post single pictures but only the reel. But anyway ... It seems my guess why, more or less :-) was right. Thx for the comment and the referance for the book.

Hello all I got an question someone in here might know the answer to. At a Danish leatherpage a guy made a bag and appearently had it out in some slight rain and the leather popped as if it had smallpocs. It does not dissappear again when dry. None at the page had ever seen it before and the question is why it happened. Several ideas came up but none seems reliable. My thoughts are the leather and the leathercells might have been damage during preparation at the factory but I really dont know. Thats true, what I call Nordic style is /was a mix of pictish, Irish, celtish and scandinavian style evolved through decades of trade and wars not only in the short span of "viking age" but also long before and after. And thanks for the nice words :-)

My first attempt for a Manpurse for myself with a nordic pattern. The sewings could be better and also the edges but I am not totally unsatisfied. It can really be seen with the inside in thin black leather. I am pretty well satisfied with my pattern and tooling though I can see it could be sharper and somewhat a bit crispier. Especially at the front. What do you think ? Any critics are welcome and nice words surely too ;-)

I have been drawing, sculpturing, woodcutting and being creative my whole life, mostly in that kind of designs, so I just had to rework and compress a "telephone-scribble" into 30 mm and add scales to fill the empty space. It is not to sound arrogant but a small design like that is easy for me to create. It is when it comes to set it in leather and work in that material I am a real rookie and need to open my eyes and ears and learn from skilled people. And thats where you come in :-)

Yes I did ask :-) and is what I asked for, new eyes. The holes I left out until I know the precise length of the wearer.

Hello First I will apologize for my dan-glish. But, I hope it is still read and understandible. This is not the first I have made but the first I feel I can show among so many skilled leatherworkers. Critics are welcome, I would like to hear what and where to improve. I see something myself but would like to hear what others see. I know the style is somewhat different from most, but I like my nordic mythology and draw my inspiration from there. Usually I draw and paint but wanted something more psysical to work with and thought leather might be the thing. The motif shows Sigurd Dragonslayer and Fafnir the dragon. Anyway, throw in your thoughts :-)

Hello and thanks for accept in here. My name is Mads and from Denmark. I joined here basicly to learn. I have done some leather over the years, but due to work, family etc etc and other hobbies, as painting/drawing, brewing and a bit of working in wood, ive never been consistant in leather. But now I have rekindled my interest and startet again and need a place with knowledge, information and inspiration. This seems to be the place :-) I am closing in on retirement from work and expect to have a bit more time for my different hobbies and the small hobbybusiness i plan to run. Not for the money but for fun and interest. I am looking forward to read, learn and gain experience in the leatherworld. Cheers.
