Need help getting machine to pick up bottom thread. I’ve tried everything in the user manual and the trouble shooting notes and still no luck Any advice appreciated.

Hi I acquired a barn find Adler 67 GK 373 and after clean up it looks good to go. Im looking to repair roping cattle horn wraps which are typically felt lined and nylon webbing and are fairly thick about a quarter of an inch. Looking for recommendations on needle size and thread thickness and type.

Thank for your reply can you recommend any other machines for a beginner that don’t break the bank.

There is one for sale near me and wonder if it’s suitable for leather and bridle work. It saw one reviews says it sees fast, I probably need something that sees slowly
