In the blue corner, Singer 136 from 1946. In the red corner, new (global?) clone from tysew (https://www.tysew.co.uk/industrial-sewing-machines/wheel-feed/tysew-ty-14400p-1-post-wheel-feed?search=post) in the UK. 136 is about two thirds the price, servo motor, has the history, looks ace, needs a bit of a clean but runs well. Would want to do a double start worm gear mod a la another forum member a while back to lengthen stitch lengths. Tysew has fully adjustable stitch length up to 7mm, gear driven wheel feed on top, light, mod cons etc.
What's everyone's views on serviceability, live-with-ability and quality of both machines? What would you choose?
For (very) low volume hobby shoe upper sewing mainly. Maybe some other light leather goods as the vibe takes me.
My heart says Singer but my head says Tysew, what do you think?
