  1. Hi, I’ve started making my own leather bags. A very exciting adventure and I’m learning so much. The issue at hand is my vintage leather shoulder bag. It’s a simple flap bag with a rectangular body. At the flap opening, right at the point where the flap bends back when you open the bag, there is a very small (3 mm?) tear, probably because the leather got scuffed. A professional bag repair company advised a leather graft but I would really like to preserve the vintage condition. All I need is a repair that prevents the tear from growing bigger over time. As a novice leatherworker I’m learning about all these materials and I was thinking could I use some transparent base edge coat to lightly tip over the tear. Would that work? Or even some leather glue. TIA
