Members mtcolt Posted February 9, 2008 Members Report Posted February 9, 2008 I made a steer halter out of heavy saddle skirting. Now that I need to add some type of finish on the halter. What is the best type of finish to put on a steer halter. Should I use something like Leather New? This is going to be a show halter for a 4H steer so I want something that will look good but also protect the leather. What does everyone use for a finish? Thanks in advance for all help. Brett Quote
Members Hidemechanic Posted February 10, 2008 Members Report Posted February 10, 2008 Brett, are you going to leave it natural. Most I've seen are black or Dk Brn.My have to do with who's showing where. Either way I would first give it a coat of neatsfoot. After dry, use Tan-Kote or equivelant. Others will share more.
