NatyTea Report post Posted June 23, 2023 Greetings, I just replaced my bell knife on my skiving machine, Consew DCS-S4, and I now have a new 5mm of new length of blade to the left (towards the left). Thus, the blade currently sits about 5mm *past* the edge of the presser foot. This would not be an issue if I could bring the blade back by turning the knob (see photo), but unfortunately I turn it, it turns the brass threaded shaft, but nothing else on the horizontal axis moves, so the blade doesn't shift from L/R. I was watching videos on maintenance/replacing blades, and one said the knob turned indefinitely. Mine does stop after a long amount of turns in either direction in case that matters. I've tried turning it to one of the ends OR the middle of the crank and installing the blade at those points, in case it has to be calibrated in some way, but that didn't work, so I didn't keep playing with this idea. Nothing I can see moves horizontally from the turning of the knob on the perpendicular axis. I know this machine used to be owned by someone who would skive THICK vegtan for sandals, I'm wondering if that might have done something to the components inside? Any thoughts greatly appreciated! Thanks!
