Manufacturing Associate

Location: Long Island City, New York

Position Type: Part-time, estimated 8 hours per week - guaranteed 4 h/wk

Hourly Rate: $25-30 per hour (dependent on experience)

If that sounds like you, Solor Shoes (www.solorshoes.com) is looking for a highly dependable, organized, and creative part-time Associate to join our team for our brand’s launch! As a part of working at Solor, you will partner with a seasoned women’s luxury footwear designer to learn the process for hand- finishing the orthotic insoles of our brand’s shoes wrapping leather and gluing in foams to the orthotic footbed and then own the whole process of insertion into the pre-made shoes. You’ll then help with preparing the shipment to send to customers. This will be a great way to learn about the practical application of a patent pending process and real innovation in the footwear industry!

Job Description:

As Manufacturing Associate at Solor Shoes,, you will play a crucial role in the production process by meticulously assembling by hand leather wrapped orthotic insoles to meet the unique needs of our customers. You will work closely to learn the process and then be able to operate with significant autonomy to ensure that each product is crafted with precision and care. You must be able to go in-person to our Long Island City, NY office 1x/week to complete insole assembly and order processing.

Responsibilities:

  1. Insole Assembly: Carefully and precisely assemble orthotic insoles with leather wrapping according to our process specifications, utilizing designated materials and techniques.

  2. Design: Collaborate with our team to recommend improvements or adjustments to the current assembly process.

  3. Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of completed insoles to verify adherence to quality standards and ensure client satisfaction.

  4. Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of attention to detail throughout the assembly and design process, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

  5. Efficiency: Work efficiently to meet production targets while maintaining a focus on craftsmanship and quality.

  6. Collaboration: Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate workflow and address any design or assembly challenges that may arise.

  7. Workspace Management: Keep work area clean, organized, and relay any restocking needs, adhering to safety protocols at all times.

Requirements:

  1. Manual Dexterity: Demonstrated ability to perform intricate tasks with precision and accuracy by hand.

  2. Creativity: Strong creative skills and the ability to conceptualize and execute by hand our process and designs based on customer needs.

  3. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

  4. Reliability: Dependable and punctual, with a consistent work ethic and willingness to contribute to the team's success.

  5. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  6. Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients. You must be able to speak and communicate in English using email.

  7. Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, particularly in handcrafting or design, is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
